My Story
I’m Jackie Palumbo.
Have you experienced life-changing events? How did you get to the other side? Who guided you? I suspect you’ve encountered bumps in the road and people who have tried to interrupt your process of finding your most authentic job, life and self.
I know what it’s like to feel unsure amidst change.
As a baby boomer, I was exposed to one of the greatest times of change our country has experienced. Young adults were rebelling against the status quo and expressing their free spirits. Emotions were high resulting from the Vietnam War and The Civil Rights Movement.
Brought up in the south suburbs of Chicago by hard working blue collar parents along with five brothers and a very large extended family, we often shared a lot of love and good times together. As such, it was a challenge to find my unique self.
I was satisfied with watching life from the sidelines.
My life started to shift when I began working in Chicago where I felt the energy of the big city and the newfound excitement of my independence.
As someone who thrives on creating new opportunities, I took the lessons I learned and moved to California. A few years later, I moved to Wisconsin, then to upstate New York before I finally settled in Alexandria, VA for the last 23 years. I have been married, divorced, promoted, fired and even created a new position for myself because of a company’s organizational restructuring.
With each change, I learned more about who I was and who I wanted to be.
Transition has never been easy for me, but I’ve always been hungry to learn more and encounter new people and experiences.
I understand that the only permission I need to change is my own.
After decades as a business leader in the insurance industry I created my own business to best serve the people around me.
